You are free to source and purchase your own sanitary ware; however we can take care of this for you if you wish.
Bathroom conversion is by nature a disruptive process. Your bathroom will be out of action for the duration of the project, and you will likely find yourself inconvenienced as a result. This cannot be avoided. However, we can assure you that our tradespeople are polite, courteous and well aware of how stressful this kind of construction project can be. We will always endeavour to leave things as clean and tidy as possible, and work to a tight schedule to ensure your bathroom is back up and running as soon as possible.
Once your bathroom conversion is complete, you will be free to enjoy it! As a well-established company of 28 years, we have the experience and skills to carry out your bathroom conversion to the highest standards.
Along with the kitchen, the bathroom is arguably the most important room in your home. However, it is often the most neglected, as well as being the most well used. We shut it away in the morning once we are ready to get on with the day, yet we return to it later looking for relaxation.
There is nothing quite like unwinding in a soothing, well appointed, practical yet beautiful bathroom at the end of a long, hard day. We get used to laying in our baths looking at dingy walls, ancient tiles and decoration that just isn’t to our taste, as it’s often the last room we get around to ‘doing up’ when we move into a new home.
Of course, bathroom renovation isn’t a small or cheap project to embark upon. Like any construction project it will be disruptive and could be expensive. However, we believe that bathroom renovation is worth it. Your bathroom is the room that most of your guests will use at some point, and we want our home décor to reflect ourselves and our individuality.
WHAT DO I NEED TO CONSIDER WHEN PLANNING MY BATHROOM RENOVATION?
Firstly, you will need to consider your budget. Work out how much you are able to lay out for your bathroom renovation, and bear in mind this figure might need to be higher than you think. In old houses especially, hidden problems can become apparent as things are ripped out in preparation for new things to go in. You should always make sure you have a small ‘float’ to cover such unexpected expenses, should they arise.
Secondly, you will need to think about the space you have available. If you’re lucky enough to have a larger bathroom, you will have a lot more freedom over the placement of baths, showers, sinks and storage. If your bathroom is smaller, you will need to be realistic about how your bathroom can be.
However, a lot can be achieved in a smaller space, so there’s no need to compromise too much on your dream bathroom renovation. There are many clever space saving storage solutions available that can maximise the space in your bathroom, and lots of design tricks that can be employed to make the most out of what you’ve got and give the illusion of a larger room.
Thirdly, and perhaps most importantly, is who you are going to choose to make your bathroom renovation happen. As we know, a bathroom renovation can be a very disruptive process, and you’ll want to make sure that the work is in good hands.
BUDGET BATHROOM RENOVATIONS
When you think of budget bathroom renovations, you don’t usually think of it resulting in a beautiful bathroom. This is because getting a new bathroom fitted can be very expensive. Renovating the bathroom is often the last room we get around to ‘doing up’ when we move into a new home.
A new bathroom can really lift your whole home. If it is something that you’ve been thinking about but have put off because you think you can’t afford it, then think again! ACR Plumbing and Heating will help to achieve your dream bathroom by working with your budget.
When it comes to budget bathroom renovations, it is important that the tradesman you use know what they’re doing. A poorly fitted bathroom can cost you a lot to fix. Wet rooms are becoming more popular, and it’s no surprise. A beautiful wet room installation can be practical, compact, space-saving and very stylish. Cleaning times can be reduced due to not having to worry about scrubbing a shower tray, and a wet room can add value to your home – especially as a second bathroom or ensuite.
IS A WET ROOM INSTALLATION RIGHT FOR ME?
Although a wet room installation seems like an excellent way to ‘open up’ a small bathroom and make a statement, if your bathroom is very small it may be worth reconsidering, or at least compromising slightly on your design. In a tiny room, without some kind of shower enclosure you will be forever drenching everything. However, there are design tricks to get around this!
Many people think that a wet room installation will be a cheaper way to renovate a bathroom but this isn’t always the case. With the work involved in properly waterproofing and preparing the space, it’s as much of a project as any other renovation.
However, for many people a wet room installation can be an an excellent addition to the home. They are minimal, contemporary, fashionable, and can add value to your home.
WET ROOM INSTALLATION: PREPARATION
If you decide to opt for a wet room installation when designing your new bathroom, be sure to choose a professional fitter. The bathroom will have to be completely waterproofed before installing your wet room, and this is a job that needs to be done properly. Without this watertight seal, all manner of problems will arise. It is possible for a DIY aficionado to purchase a wet room kit and install it themselves, but this should only be attempted if you’re absolutely confident in your skills.
WET ROOM INSTALLATION: DESIGN
The convenient thing about a wet room installation is the fact that you can get it all wet. However, you might not want everything in the wet room getting a soaking every time you have a shower. Bear this in mind when designing the layout of your wet room. If the room is on the smaller side, you may wish to consider having a shower screen installed. This might not be the perfect, minimalist look you desire but it’s certainly preferable than constantly wet toilet rolls!
There are many options when it comes to tiling your wet room, all with their own upsides and downsides. Ceramic tiles are versatile and affordable, but you may wish to consider textured ones for the floor to make them less slippery. Many people opt for natural tiles to give a more spa-like feel to their wet room installation.
Whichever route you want to take with your wet room installation, or indeed any bathroom renovation, you can trust ACR Plumbing and Heating to carry out your plumbing work to the highest of professional standards. An established company of over 28 years, we have the knowledge and the skills to help you create the bathroom – or wet room – of your dreams.
A new shower installation is a complicated job. Although you may be tempted to fit your new shower yourself, unless you’re a plumber with excellent electrical knowledge it’s best to call in a professional. Installing an electric shower involves a lot of technical know-how and skill. If you’re not sure which type of shower you need, then you can read more about them here.
COST OF PROFESSIONAL SHOWER INSTALLATION
The majority of the cost of a new shower installation is due to labour fees. And while you might think you’ll save some money by having a go at doing it yourself, you may end up paying more in the long run. Repairing a botched job usually costs a lot more to put right than getting it done right to begin with.
It typically costs about €110.00 plus vat @ 13.5% to supply and fit for a brand new electric shower. This price includes all the piping necessary for your shower installation.
If you already have an electric shower in place, but its not working, it can usually be more cost effective in the long to replace it. The cost to replace an existing electric shower, usually costs €450 plus vat @ 13.5%. These prices are based on supplying & fitting Trition T90 or Mira Elite, which are the brands and models of electric shower we recommend.
